| BGSBU staffer gets Young Scientist Award-2007 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 12: Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri a Wildlife Biologist and an Assistant Registrar in the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was conferred Young Scientist Award-2007 by the Department of Science and Technology at a function held at the Convocation Hall of the University of Kashmir. The award was handed over to Dr. Zarri by C. Phonsog Advisor to Governor in presence of Rayaz Punjabi VC Kashmir University, Prof. Anwar Alam VC SKUAST-Kashmir, Ashok Parmar Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology and IT, various Scientists from within and outside the State were also present. The award comprised a Citation and Rs 10000 cheque.
Zarri was conferred the award for the year 2007 for his contribution to biological sciences.
Zarri also the recipient of Chancellor Certificate of Merit for his outstanding performance as a Scientist in the CBS of BGSBU, is the only Scientist of J&K having its membership in learned societies like Ecological Society of America USA, World Pheasant Association (WPA), British Ornithologists' Club UK, Oriental Bird Club (OBC) UK, Bombay Natural History Society India, Indian Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) and Nilgiri Wildlife and Environment Association NWLEA. |
