EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 12: In his visit to Jammu after Amarnath land row when Peoples Democratic Party had become a hate symbol and its office survived more than two dozen mob attacks, the party patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today challenged critics to prove discrimination against Jammu.
On the occasion of Mufti’s arrival in the town, there was another bid at the PDP office in Gandhi Nagar by some activists of Lok Janshakti Party. Police charged the mobsters and chased them away. Following this bid security was tightened around PDP office and residence of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
taking at dig at those who have been raking up the issue of discrimination with Jammu region, PDP Chief Patron and former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today dared any political group to prove that his regime had discriminated with any region. "Our government had initiated many steps to remove these discriminations; he added and maintained that in every sphere of life equal treatment was given to all regions of State".
Addressing party workers at party headquarter here today he said that Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were treated equally during his tenure as CM as far as opening of Universities, Colleges, schools and developmental projects were concerned.
He said ‘Self rule proposal is the only workable solution of the vexed Kashmir problem’. Besides, incorporating internal and external dimension of the problem, wishes and aspirations of all sections of the Jammu and Kashmir have been included while formulating this visionary document, he added and asserted that his party would aggressively pursue the Self-Rule agenda to establish lasting peace in this region.
Sayed said that in the on-going poll process people have an opportunity to elect a party which would solve their problems as well as felicitate the efforts of restoring sustainable peace in the State. "With its three years regime, the PDP has carved out a new path of peace and progress in this region", he said and added that in short span of time his party has laid a strong foundation of mutual trust and confidence among all regions of the State.
Terming the on-going election process as historic opportunity to elect credible persons who will facilitate solution of the Kashmir problem, Sayed said that pro-peace agenda propagated by the PDP has been endorsed at national as well as international level. He said that it was all due to the credibility of his party that the Congress leadership had formed coalition with PDP despite the fact that party had just 16 MLAs at that time. "It is all due to our sincerity and dedication that we earned credibility at all level", he said.
Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa, Manjit Singh, Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, Baldev Singh Slathia and R K Bali also addressed the rally.
Meanwhile, the Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJSP) has condemned the police action and taking into custody the youth wing president of the Party Gurdeep Singh Pandey.
As per release workers of the youth wing of LJSP were holding protest demonstration against the disruptive and divisive policies and programs of the PDP who played a highly negative role during the Amarnath Yatra land row agitation. The workers were first lathi charged and their leader Pandey was taken into police custody and detained in the Gandhi Nagar police station and later on released on personal bond.
