EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 13: On the second leg of its two-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir, the Election Commission of India (ECI) today had detailed interaction with the representatives of different political parties here on the smooth conduct of the ensuing state Assembly elections. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mr. N. Gopalaswami, accompanied by the two Election Commissioners Mr. Naveen Chawla and Dr. S.Y Quareshi, met the representatives of BSP, BJP, CPI, CPI(M), INC, NCP, RJD, NC, JKNPP and PDP and obtained their views on the coming elections. In the afternoon, the ECI reviewed the poll preparedness and arrangements for holding free, fair and transparent elections in the State with District Election Officers and Senior Superintendents of Police of Jammu Division. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Mr. B.R. Sharma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey and Inspector General of Police Jammu, Mr. K. Rajendra. Earlier on Wednesday, the Election Commission had a similar interaction with the representatives of various political parties in Srinagar. |
