120 NC workers resign in Baramulla
11/13/2008 9:42:05 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
BARAMULLA, Nov 13: While all mainstream political parties in Kashmir valley are chalking out their strategies to strengthen vote bank for assembly elections, National Conference (NC) suffered massive jolt on Thursday when 120 top workers including District President, Block, Presidents, District and Block Youth Presidents, and other execute members of working committee formally resigned from party following the mandate controversy which was given to Nazir Ahmed Khan a businessman of Sheeri Baramulla.
However, the cadre who resigned from the party is only to express their anger with the party leaders.
The party workers alleged that there is lobbyism in party and double standard towards the party workers, who according to them suffered and sacrificed for party. The party workers decided to resign from party after a meeting held at Sheeri community hall that was attended by hundreds of party top workers.
‘We workers are compelled to revolt and resign from party’ as party high command has as turned down our proposal for mandate to Baramulla constituency and it was given to such a person, who was associated with rival party PDP previously, and joined the party short while ago. This is insult to the district working body and hundreds of senior workers of NC in Baramulla, who have sacrificed for party," said Ghulam Nabi Jan Kachroo who was district President of NC in Baramulla and former candidate.
Addressing party workers at Sheeri, rebel district president Jan Kachroo alleged that NC is dominated by dynasty rule and lobbyism owing to which workers are being exploited with dirty politics.
"I along with block presidents, youth district and block presidents, and district working committee of NC along 120 senior workers have resigned from NC because of its wrong police and dynasty rule. We will show our support in upcoming polls and would field our own candidate from Narwave Sheeri area," said Ghulam Nabi Jan former district President NC.
