| Only three women out of 112 in first phase | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 13: There are three women contestants among 102 in fray for the opening phase of J&K Assembly Elections 2008. Polling in 10 constituencies of Bandipora, Leh, Kargil and Poonch districts will take place in the first phase on November 17. Tabassum Bano and Smt. Sarita Sharma are the two women contestants from Jammu division in the first phase of polls and both will contest from Poonch-Haveli Assembly constituency. Smt. Gowsia Bashir, who is seeking mandate from Bandipora constituency as an independent, is the lone female candidate from Kashmir valley. While Smt. Tabbasum will contest polls as J&K National Panthers Party candidate, Smt. Sarita is fighting the elections on Bhartiya Chaitanya Party ticket. There is no woman contestant in fray from Ladakh region in the first phase of elections. |
