| ASI to celebrate World Heritage week from 19th Nov | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 14: The Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle, Jammu is celebrating the World Heritage week from 19th to 25th November 2008 at all important central protected monuments located in Jammu and Kashmir. As per a release, this year the celebrations are schedule to be held at Akhnoor Fort, Akhnoor, District Jammu. It is aimed to involve the youth of the area through local school and college students in protection, preservation and propagation of our great heritage for which our country is justly world famous. An exhibition and other cultural awareness programmes on the eve of the World Heritage Week being organized at Akhnoor Fort, Akhnoor, District Jammu monuments highlighting recent Archeological activities in the region, which includes conservation of monuments, exploration and excavation in addition to photographs of the monuments inscribed in the World Heritage list shall be on display. R. Krishnaiah, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India has made an appeal to the public especially young generation to attend the painting and drawing competition and Cultural programme for the celebrations of World Heritage Week being organized on the occasion in the premises of monuments at Akhnoor Fort, Akhnoor, the release added. |
