| Congress celebrates Pt. Nehru’s 119th Birthday | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 14: A meeting of congress leaders and workers was held at PCC headquarters, Shahidi Chowk, Jammu today to pay homage to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 119th Birth Anniversary. The meeting was presided by Om Chopra-Ex-MLA president DCC, Jammu (Urban). As per a release speakers recalled the services of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in the freedom struggle and as first Prime Minister of free India. They said Pt. Nehru was a pioneer and vociferous leader in freedom struggle. After independence he became the architect of modern India and laid special thrust and emphasis on building huge hydro-electric projects, network of canals for irrigation and big industries. The five year plans, domestic and foreign policies, Non Aligns Movement (NAM, Panchsheel were his great achievements. Being world class statesman Nehru wanted India to be among developed countries and due to his farsightedness, India has become a global economic power in 21st century. They said that children of our country has great love with Nehru Ji and remember him as “Chacha Nehru”. S. Parduman Singh-MLC especially appealed to congress workers to unite and ensure the victory of congress candidates in the ensuing Assembly elections, the release added. |
