Kashmiri Forum demands liberation of PoK, Gilgit
11/14/2008 10:58:48 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 14: A new organization under the nomenclature of Jammu, Kashmir Ladakah and Gilgit unification forum, with A. K. Vaishnavi as its chairman and M .K Machama the general secretary, having its headquarters in Ghaziabad, has urged the Government of India to issue a white paper on the United Nation’s resolution adopted on Kashmir in 1948 because the forum is of the firm opinion that had Pakistan implemented all the clauses of the resolution the Kashmir issue would have been settled years ago.
It wants India to take steps so as to ensure that Pakistan withdrew its forces from the occupied Kashmir as is provided in the UN resolution on Kashmir.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, the forum has stated that "expecting Kashmiri Hindus to live peacefully or will be secure in the
Valley dominated by the intolerant and violent Wahabi ideology is to live in a fool's paradise". It has said that to ensure dignified return of Pandits to the valley, India should “eliminate terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Gilgit." It has called for implementation of February 22, 1994 Parliament resolution which provides for liberating the territories of Jammu and Kashmir held by Pakistan.
M .K. Machama said that "no step has been taken to liberate occupied Kashmir as also the areas under the Pakistan and China."
Machama said that in the memorandum the forum has pleaded for suitable measures for liberating Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Gilgit as part of the plan of unification of the entire state adding that the responsibility for the security of the unified state should vest with the Government of India. It has stated that as a result of "Pakistan's racial expansionism we have been forced to spend thousands of crores on defence and internal security which was needed for socio-economic development and for improving the quality of life of people in the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir."
