| Jan, languishing in Tihar Jail, seeks votes to escape gallows | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Nov 14: In order to escape the gallows, Mohammad Iqbal Jan, an independent candidate from Bandipora constituency has released his election manifesto from Tihar jail, which is more of an appeal than the usual promise of a politician. Jan, lone brother of six sisters, is languishing in Tihar jail in Delhi for the past two years and his well wishers suggested him to contest election as an independent candidate which, in case of win, will spare him from sending to gallows. While releasing the manifesto, Jan expressed his motto revolving round his release only. "I am an innocent complicated in a fake case which can result in my death sentence. I request all the sisters, mothers, fathers and brothers, to vote in my favour thus ensuring release and avoidance of death penalty to an innocent youth," Jan said. "I am the only hope of six sisters and India wants to see me hanging. I appeal inhabitants of Bandipora to come to my rescue by casting votes in my favour by stamping bicycle, my election symbol," the one point manifesto reads. |
