| PK attends conference on terrorism | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 14: Panun Kashmir team, led by its convener Dr. Agnishekhar, attended a conference on ‘Terrorism and its dimensions and media and terrorism’ at Dharamshala. The conference was organized by the regional center of the Himachal Pradesh University at its Dharamshala center. Dr. Agnishekhar made his presentation on the opening day and made quite an impression with his erudition and knowledge of the subject of terrorism. Romesh Manwati, coordinator of the NCR Delhi made his presentation on the subject on the second day and highlighted various aspects of terrorism that has engulfed the nation. A large number of scholars, besides the team of Panun Kashmir, which was especially invited to the conference, participated in the conference. Prominent among them were the noted journalist and Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra, Bal Apte Rajya Sabha member and also Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Government in exile. The conference expressed its particular concern about the influx of a large number of illegal immigrants into the country and the role played by them in the spread of terrorism in various parts of the country. The role of the media also came into focus in the deliberations of the conference. Panun Kashmir team also interacted with the Kashmiri Pandits based in Dharamshala and in particular the preparations for the forthcoming 2-day WKPC 3rd beginning in Jammu on January 18, 2009. Coordinator of the Dharamshala chapter for the WKPC 3rd Satish Bhatt along with his team of activists including Dr.Sunil Dhar, a noted Geologist, D.P.Dassi and P.N.Talashi would be organizing the process of the registration of delegates and would lead the local KP community to the conference. In particular KPs based in Dari area of Dharamshala have promised to bring a whole bus of activists for the conference in Jammu. On the occasion there was a complete media mobilization. Dainik Jagran and Divya Himachal came out with exclusive interviews of Dr. Agnishekhar where he highlighted the dangers of terrorism and also the special focus that would be given to the subject in the WKPC 3rd. |
