| 55th All India Cooperative week celebrations begin | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 14: As a part of 55th All India Cooperatives Week celebrations 2008, the Jammu Central Cooperative Bank, organized a function at Sehkari Bhawan here today. Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Mohd Shafi Rather who was the chief guest inaugurated the week-long celebrations by hoisting flag at the Sehkari Bhawan. Additional Registrar Jammu, Chairman and Vice Chairman, Jammu Central Cooperative Bank, Board of Directors of the Bank, members of various Cooperative Societies and other people were present on the occasion. In his address, Mr. Rather appreciated the efforts of bank in organizing the events to promote various facets of cooperative movement during the cooperative week. He stressed the need for mobilizing people’s participation to ensure that cooperative institutions become self-reliant and economically viable. Calling cooperative movement a mass movement which requires participation from citizens especially from the rural areas, he called upon various agencies to improve the delivery mechanism from their side to ensure that people can avail the benefits from these cooperative institutions. He stressed on the need to identify the weakness and loopholes present in the system so that concrete steps could be taken in a positive direction to achieve the goals set for these societies. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman JCCB Mr. Mohinder Singh apprised about the achievements of the bank in the cooperative sector and the role played by the bank in arranging loans for purchasing agriculture inputs to create marketing facilities for the farmers. He also informed about bank’s plan to expand its network of branches and ATM facilities alongwith issuing Kissan Credit Cards to the farmers. |
