Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 30: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu produced chargesheet in case FIR No. 38/2018 U/S 5(1)(d), 4-A r/w Section 5(2) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 (as amended in 2014) of P/S VOJ (now ACB Jammu) against Abdul Gafoor S/o Abdul Latief R/O Nakka Manjari Mendhar Poonch then posted as Follower No F-22/4th Security Bn., PID No APR-055730 (now posted in IRP-18th Bn Gulshan Ground Jammu), in the court of Ld. Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rajouri on 29-12-2021.
The instant case was registered on the basis of enquiry report forwarded by Addl Director General of Police Security Hqrs. J&K into the complaint of one Abdul Majid S/o Alaf Din R/o Dharana, Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch regarding demand and acceptance of bribe amount by Abdul Gafoor, No F-22/AP 4th Security PID No ARP-055730 S/o Haji Abdul Latif R/O Naka Manjhari, Mendhar District Poonch. The examination of enquiry report of Security Headquarters J&K, revealed that follower (W/M) Abdul Gafoor No.F-22 / AP 4th Security PID No. ARP-055730 while his posting in J&K Armed Police had demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant with the assurance to get his close relatives adjusted in Police Department.
However, despite paying the bribe amount, neither his close relatives were adjusted nor the amount in question returned to him etc. After registration of formal case against the alleged accused, the investigation was conducted and statements of witnesses recorded under section 161 Cr.PC. and it came to fore that accused Abdul Gafoor being a member of Police Department and by taking the advantage of his good relation with superior officers has misused his official position and with dishonest intention has demanded and accepted bribe amount from the complainant for providing government job of his close relatives which is serious violation of the Police Rule/Norms.
On the strength of facts and circumstances, together with cogent and clinching evidence brought on record, the investigation has established the commission of offences U/S 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) and 4-A of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 are made out against the said public servant. The prosecution sanction in respect of in-service public servant namely Follower Abdul Gafoor No.F-22/ AP 4th Security PID No. ARP-055730 was obtained from the competent authority.
Next date of hearing is fixed on March 2, 2022.
