| DPN to contest on more seats | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 15-The Jammu Kashmir Democratic Party, headed by Ghulam Hassan Mir, has decided to field the party candidates in more than 30 constituencies. Mir today said that initially it was decided to contest on not more than 25 seats but when a number of political activists started knocking the party doors "we have decided to give mandate to more candidates." He said so far mandate has been given to 22 candidates, which includes seven from the Jammu region. He said since the Democratic Party has an electoral understanding with the CPIM and Peoples Democratic Forum, headed by Hakeen Mohd.Yaseen, and other former legislators, "I think we would be able to win more than 20 seats in the Assembly." In reply to a question he said "at this time I cannot say anything to which party our group will support in the formation of the Government". He, however, made it clear that there was no question of lending any direct or indirect support to the PDP. He said that the voters in the state were wise enough to understand the ramifications of the damage caused to the state by the policies of the PDP adding that PDP had only one ideology of perpetuating the family rule which people may resist.
