Country's oldest man Habib Miyan suffers hip fracture

Jaipur, Sept 14: Habib Miyan, believed to be the oldest living man in the country, has been hospitalised after suffering a hip joint fracture, hospital sources said here on Thursday.

Miyan, who celebrated his 137th birthday on May 20, fractured his hip joint after slipping in the bathroom and was admitted to the emergency ward of Sawai Man Singh Hospital last evening. He was shifted to Orthopaedic ward this morning, hospital sources said here today.

"Right now his blood pressure is not normal and the moment he is stable, doctors will conduct an operation on his fractured hip joint," Hospital Superintendent Narpat Singh Shekhwat said.

Dr R K Sharma and other experts are treating Miyan. "All medical expenses are being taken care of by his family. But if the family requests, he could be given free treatment," hospital sources added.

According to Habib Miyan's great-great-grandson Chuttan Miyan he slipped in the bathroom and was admitted to SMS Hospital. "As Habib Miyan is blind since he was 60 he is facing these problems," Chuttan added.

Residents of the city were flocking the hospital to wish Habib Miyan speedy recovery and praying for his well being.

Miyan has been names in Limca Book of Records as the oldest living Indian. In an interview on his birthday, he had said had said 'khuda ke ghar bhi na jayege bin bulaye hue (I won't even go to god's home without an invitation).
