JAMMU, Nov 16: Beating Parath Saproo in straight sets (11-6, 11-9), Madhav Ghai today made it into the quarterfinals of junior boys singles event in the ongoing 30th State Table Tennis Championships at Indoor Complex, M A Stadium, here.
Earlier, Madhav defeated Shivanshu 11-1, 11-5 in the qualifying round to make it into the main draw of pre-quarterfinals. “Introduced for the first time, in the main draw, the qualifiers from two preliminary rounds have been pitted against the seeded players on the pattern of national competitions,” table tennis coach of the State Sports Council, Satish Gupta told SAN.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee of the state championship has decided to conduct the cadet boys and girls competitions at 4 pm tomorrow, followed by the sub-junior events at 5 pm. The junior boys and men’s singles matches shall commence from 6 pm and 7 pm respectively.
