Reasi Police recovers Rs 14.35 lakh proceeds of drug-crime; peddler arrested

REASI, Jan 9: District Police Reasi has booked number of drug peddlers under a drive along with seizure of banned drugs. Today Reasi Police achieved a major success on this front and recovered Rs 14.35 lakh of drug money along with 26 challies of charas from the possession of a notorious drug peddler Bashir Ahmad.
Team of Reasi Police at naka Sool Kakriyal during checking and frisking of vehicles noticed suspicious movement and stopped one scooty bearing registration number JK 20B 4527 plying from Manthal towards Kakriyal. During checking 10 challies of Charas like substance along with Rs 2 lakh cash were recovered from the possession of the rider of the scooty identified as Bashir Ahmed S/O Sharief R/O Chak Bhagta tehsil Katra district Reasi.
On this FIR 07/2022 U/S 8, 20, 25 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and accused arrested, banned drug & drug money along with vehicle was seized for further investigation to unearth forward and backward linkages in the case. During preliminary interrogation Bashir disclosed that he had collected ? 12.35 Lacs more money after selling drugs to the youth and is kept in his house. On his disclosure Police team along with Executive Magistrate (Naib Tehsildar Panthal) raided and recovered drug money Rs 12.35 lakh along with more chhalies of charas in the presence of Executive Magistrate from his house. Bashir a notorious drug peddler of the area earlier remained involved in drug peddling FIR 22/2020 US 8, 20, 29 NDPS Act of Police station Reasi and is facing trial in the case.
