| Congress women wing pleaded for representation in party | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 17: The President and General secretary of Women wing of J&K Trade Union Congress, Vimla Salathia and Veena Bakshi respectively, accompanied by some other activists of the Trade Union organization of the party called on the former J&K Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad and pleaded for giving due representation to the women Congress leaders in the main organization and front organizations in selection of party candidates for the J&K state assembly elections As per a release, they rued that despite the Congress party committed to political empowerment of women by giving them 33% reservations in all the elected bodies, parliament and state assemblies and despite the fact that the party is lead by a tallest woman leader in the world Sonia Gandhi, woman Congress leaders have hardly got any share of selections of candidates for assembly elections in J&K. Ghulam Nabi Azad is said to have assured them that in the selection of candidates for the seats, where the list of candidates has not been finalized, some representation will be given to the women, while at least one leader of Women wing of J&K Trade Union Congress, which is the front organization of the Pradesh Congress, will be given party ticket from Jammu and Samba districts for fighting the assembly election, the release added. |
