11/17/2008 10:24:03 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
BHADERWAH, Nov 17: The murder of a young lady in Bhaderwah, allegedly by her in laws, led to protest demonstration in the town. The protestors were demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in this heinous crime. The police are reported to have arrested two persons, including the husband of the deceased, in this case.
Local people held demonstration outside the office of ASP Bhadarwah from where they proceeded to main market Seri Bazar Bhadarwah. The students of Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary Schools also joined the protestors and boycotted their classes. Later they held a sit in outside police station and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Leaders of several political parties reached the spot and also pressed for immediate arrest of the culprits. Sensing the situation turning out of control, the police swung into action and arrested family members of the deceased. Those arrested included Anayat Ex CMO, Manzor Matoo Warden Jail Bhadarwah husband of the deceased and 11 year Qasim working as a servant in the house of Manzoor. Pacified with the timely police action the mob later dispersed peacefully.
It is worth while to mention that nearly two months back a case of death of a young lady was also reported from Bhadarwah in which no arrest has been made so far. Farooq Mistry uncle of the deceased lady alleged that despite registration of FIR against Rehber Jamal, reporter of a local English Daily ‘States Times’, allegedly involved in the killing of the lady, the police has failed to arrest him for the reasons best known to them.
