| Fidayeen Attack on Ragunath Temple Jammu | | Police Presented Challan against six accused | |
Jammu, September, 14:- Jammu police today presented Challan in much publicized fidayeen attack on Ragunath Temple Jammu in which according to Challan 10 persons including two militants were killed and more than 15 persons were seriously injured during cross-firing, the Challan was presented in the Court of Principal Sessions Judge Jammu.
Yesterday police produced all the six accused along with Challan in the Court, the accused were though in custody but without handcuff, upon this Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Mr. Subhash Chander Gupta took serious note of the police and returned the Challan with the direction to the police to produce the accused in the Court in handcuff as the accused are involved in a serious matter. Today police produced all the accused in the Court in handcuff, Court after accepting Challan directed the prosecution to lead evidence on next date of hearing for framing charge.
Police presented Challan u/s 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 120-B (conspiracy) r/w section 7/25 Arms Act, 2/3 PSSA and 3 Enemy Agent Ordinance against accused persons namely Muneer Hussain s/o Dilawar Khan, Maroof Khan s/o Attaullah Khan, Sarfraz Khan s/o Attaullah Khan, Sabir Ahmed s/o Khadim Hussain, Kabir-ul-Din s/o Aziz Din, Mehmood Ahmed s/o Ghulam Ahmed residents of all residents of Tehsil Surankote District Poonch, according to the Challan Maroof Khan and Kabir-ul-Din were detained under PSA by order of District Magistrate. It was also submitted that the accused were granted bail from the
POTA Court in POTAS but in other sections like 3 EAO the accused were not granted bail.
According to Challan on March 30, 2002 the police during patrol when reached near Ragunath Mandir Chowk found that two terrorist with AK-56 Rifles started indiscriminate firing and also hurled grenade in which SSB and police personals including Civillian were killed and some injured. The CRPF chase the militants, who entered in the Mandir complex and started firing. In the cross firing according to the Challan 10 persons including two unknown militants were killed and more than 15 persons were injured and after completion of the investigation Challan under POTA was presented in the Court of POTA from where the accused was granted bail under POTA but other sections they were not granted bail as such the police presented Challan in the Court of Principal Sessions Judge Jammu after more than four years of the occurrence.
