Abdullahs' entangled in bitter power-tussle
Momentum set for PDP's historic victory: Karra
11/18/2008 11:15:24 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Nov 18: "The trends emerging from the first phase of polling on Monday have set the momentum for the revival of that historic and momentous era," the state witnessed under the leadership of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed during 2002-05, senior PDP leader Tariq Hameed Karra said.
Addressing a series of election rallies in Kangan constituency today, Karra said the people are craving for the relief and respite they had experienced, both on the security and development fronts, between 2002 and 2005 and it seems they have firmly made up their mind to give PDP the absolute majority so that the party could carry ahead without any impediments its agenda of peace, dignity and prosperity for Jammu & Kashmir. "The wave building across the State in favour of the PDP is a vivid acknowledgment of the party's swelling popularity among the masses in general and the youth and women in particular," he said and added that the people have decided to teach the National Conference a lesson for the power-hungry politics of deceit practiced by the party over the years and they came out in large numbers yesterday to do so.
Karra said the greatest asset of the PDP is the credibility and unwavering stance of its leaders on the crucial issues pertaining to the State and its interests. "For PDP, people's honour and dignity is supreme and the party would safeguard the same at whatever cost," he said and added that unlike National Conference, the leadership of PDP never kept itself available for anti-State machinations to grab power.
Karra said the rising credibility of the PDP has made the opposition National Conference so nervous that scared of an eventual political debacle in Harzatbal and Ganderbal constituencies, Sonawar constituency has now become a bone of contention between the father-son duo of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. "As Dr Abdullah and Omar are sensing defeat from Hazratbal and Ganderbal constituencies, both of them are now desperate to lay their hands on the Sonawar constituency, fermenting a strong power-tussle within the family," he said.
PDP candidate for Kangan constituency Bashir Ahmad Mir also addressed these rallies.
