EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 18: The first edition of the All India Public School English Debate was organized under the aegis of Indian Heritage School, Bungal Pathankot. The competition featured some of the best public schools of the country .Stalwarts like Scindia School , Gwalior , Welham Boys and Scholars Home , Dehradun, Meethapur High School , Meethapur , Gujarat and Tata Chem. DAV School , Babrala participated along with Presentation Convent , Jammu , Air Force School , Pathankot , St. Joseph Convent, Pathankot and the host , Indian Heritage School, Pathankot . Each speaker rose to the occasion and left a un- removal mark on the audience. They stunned the audience into pin drop silence with their mastery and control over the language and the subject and their unique styles of presentation. The judges, after thorough deliberations narrowed down their choices to just three. The consolation prize of Rs. 1000 went to Jaskunwar Singh Kolhi of Welham School, Dehradun. The individual runners- up prize of Rs. 3000 were awarded to Param Shah, also of Welham School, Dehradun. Sumana Saneev of Indian Heritage School won the first prize of Rs. 5000. Scindia School Gwalior stood third, Welham Boys obtained the second position and the host, Indian Heritage School, Pathankot beat them by the narrowest possible margin on one point to obtain the Running Trophy that has most graciously been sponsored by Tata Chemicals. Being the host Indian Heritage School magnanimously offered the winners trophy to the runners up, Welham Boys, Dehradun . Brigadier Jaswal, Commander 21 Sub Area Pathankot, graced the chair and enthralled and the audience with his address and also commended Soham Anand, Principal of Indian Heritage School for organization competition of such a stature. |
