| Corps of Engineers celebrates 228th Raising Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Corps of Engineers comprising Combat Engineers, Military Engineering Service (MES), Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Survey of India personnel popularly known as `Sappers’ celebrated the 228th Anniversary of their raising today. On this occasion, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command, Lt Gen PC Bhardwaj, complimented all ranks and civilians of the Corps of Engineers for their dedication and performance in the Northern Command theatre. He said the Sappers have played a pivotal role in construction and repair of the fence along the Line of Control, construction of Advance Landing Grounds for the Air Force in Ladakh Sector, tedious and dangerous de-mining operations, construction and maintenance of lines of communication and providing the works services for all military stations. He said the spirit of the Sappers is reflected in their motto of `SARVATRA’ implies that the Sapper is available for any task, anywhere, any time, during war or peace. |
