| JU bodies seek another term for Mattoo | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 18: The Jammu University fraternity has thanked Chancellor, University of Jammu and Governor Jammu and Kashmir State, NN Vohra for continuation of Professor Amitabh Mattoo as Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. A joint meeting of conglomeration of Associations of the University of Jammu, attended by the Presidents and General Secretaries of Jammu University Teacher's Association (JUTA), Non-teaching Association , President and Chairperson Jammu University Research Elective Scholars Association (JURSEA ) and IVth class Association have hailed the decision of the Chancellor for continuation of Prof. Amitabh Mattoo as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu even after the expiry of his six year term. The speakers unanimously urged the Chancellor to grant another term to Prof Matoo who has been instrumental in the growth and development of the University. Non-teaching Association while addressing the meeting felt that the change in leadership is not desirable at this stage, as the University needs to stabilize itself at its new position of a fast changing and developing University . They also strongly urged Prof. Mattoo to continue serving the University as a true son of the soil. The members said that the memory of the critical role played by Prof. Mattoo in bringing peace to the Jammu region, when it plunged into deep crisis during the summer, is still fresh in the minds of the people, apart from his other contributions. President and General Secretary Jammu University Teacher's Association while thanking the Governor maintained that they have already formally written to the Chancellor and the Chairperson and members of the Search Committee for granting Prof. Amitabh Mattoo another term as Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu. |
