Early Times Report
SUNDERBANI, Jan 21: 'Demeaning' the very sanctity ofRight to Information (RTI) Act, administration in Sunderbani is allegedly playing in the hands of an influential naib sarpanch to suppress information pertaining to the flour mill.
According to sources, an RTI was filed in the office of ADC in December last year, but despite passage of more than one and half month, no information is provided.
"RTI was pertaining to the permissions and approvals received by the naib sarpanch for establishing flour mill in the area, despite the fact that there is a veterinary hospital and government school in the close proximity of the site," said sources, adding that the locals of the area have already expressed their resentment over the proposed construction of flour mill.
Sources said that locals have objected to the proposal of constructing a flour mill, as they believe the same violates set guidelines.
"Locals also believe that the permission obtained by the naib sarpanch are fraud and attained by mischief," alleged sources, adding that they have already demanded an enquiry in this regard.
If sources are to be believed, the influential naib sarpanch got No Objection Certificate from officials, not actually competent to issue such a certificate.
"The present RTI was just to confirm whether the officers, who had issued NOC are competent or not," said sources adding that but the administration is allegedly trying to suppress the information.
When contacted the concerned ADC, he said that the matter was pertaining to the revenue department, so he had forwarded the same to the concerned Tehsildar.
However, talking to Early Times, Tehsildar maintained that he has not received any communication in this regard.
Locals in the area have requested the Lieutenant Governor to look into the matter and instruct the concerned officers to respect the RTI Act by disclosing information.
