| Contemporary theater talk after 25 years | | | EARLY TIME REPORT SRINAGAR, Nov 18: A Two-Day long State level Seminar on the "Folk and Contemporary Theatre in J&K" was inaugurated here at Lal Mandi today. The event was organized after a gap of 25 year by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. A galaxy of theatre critics, directors, cultural luminaries, academicians and intellectuals were present on the occasion. Kavi Rattan Sharma was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session while distinguished scholar, writer and former Director General Culture, Muhammad Yusuf Taing presided over. Sajood Sailani , eminent playwright was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary, Cultural Academy in his welcome address assured that the Academy is committed to the all round development of the state in all realms of art, culture, theatre, music and literature. He emphasized the need for better coordination among various organizations for the harmonious artistic growth of the state. Academy announced a special aid of one lac rupees specially sanctioned by its President, His Excellency the Governor of the state in favour of Ghulam Ali Majboor, eminent folk theatrist , poet and writer, due to his ailments. Sajood Sailani, Kavi Rattan Sharma and Mipam Othsal were also felicitated on the occasion for their distinguished services to the field of theatre. Kavi Rattan Sharma in his special address said that theatre is a powerful medium of communication and is vibrant instrument to mold the ideology of common masses.
