GDC Banihal organizes online activities on National Girl Child Day

BANIHAL, Jan 24: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal in collaboration with Department of Mathematics of the college commemorated the National Girl Child Day,2022 as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav by organizing a series of online programmes under the overall supervision of the Principal Dr. Manohar Lal and mentorship of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ajay Kumar and Prof. Ram Parkash (HoD Mathematics). The college organised an inter-college online essay-writing competition, inter-college online poster-making competition and an inter-college online Quiz to celebrate the National Girl Child Day. The overall objective was to spread awareness regarding the girl child day, the issues faced by girls, their rights, the various government schemes for their upliftment and so on. Students from various Degree Colleges of the State participated in the event. A total of 240 students including from GDC Banihal, GDC Ramban, GDC Gool, GDC Doda, GDC Thathri, GDC Marh, GDC Marheen, GDC Kupwara, GDC Hiranagar, GDC Kunjwani, GDC Bhagwati Nagar, GDC Verinag, SPMR College of Commerce Jammu, GGM Science College Jammu and SP College Srinagar participated in the online quiz.
In the online essay writing competition, 15 students participated out of which Shakeel Ahmed Naik, a B.A. Sem-VI student of GDC Banihal attained first position, Rakesh Kumar (B.A.Sem-3,GDC Thathri) and Danish Rafiq (B.A.Sem-3,GDC Banihal) shared second position; third position went to Tuba Waheed and Izna Rather of B.A. Sem-V and B.A.Sem-3 respectively of GDC Banihal.
In the online poster making event,14 students participated out of whom Sheetal Devi (B.A.Sem-V) and Komal Sharma (B.A.Sem-3) of GLDM Degree College Hiranagar secured first and second positions respectively while Iffrat Jee (B.A. Sem-V), Mehak Nisar (B.A. Sem-V) and Izna Rather (B.A.Sem-3) of GDC Banihal shared third position. The event was made possible with the efforts of entire faculty of the college.
