| GDC Ramgarh organizes online essay writing competition | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 24: In the series of events organized under the campaign of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan", Women Development Cell of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized an online essay writing competition with the aim to spread awareness among the students about the topic 'Save Girl Child'. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college.
Dr. Shamsher Lal, HOD Dogri and Ekta Rani, HOD Hindi mutually coordinated the event. They encouraged the students to participate with zest and also direct efforts to generate awareness about welfare services intended for girls in India and make them ready to face the challenges of life effectively.
A large number of students participated in the competition. The first prize was secured by Robina Choudhary, B.A. Semester-I; second prize was clinched by Sonika Devi, B.A Semester-V while the third prize was bagged by Akriti Sharma, B.A. Semester-I.
Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol congratulated the winners of the event and encouraged them to participate in more such events. She also said that it gives me immense pleasure to see that the students have learned a lot about the welfare schemes launched by the Government of India by participating in this contest. It will definitely help to achieve the goals of the scheme such as improve the child sex ratio, ensure gender equality and women empowerment and help to prevent gender biased sex selective elimination from the society. The event was held under the convenership of Prof. Seema Sharma. |
