| 5-day EDUSAT session commences | | | Jammu, July 10: A 5-day session on Content Generation Programme for EDUSAT-A Satellite dedicated to education, today commenced at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar here this morning. Director Colleges Dr. N. D. Wani was the Chief Guest while Director School Education Mr. D. K. Vaid presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Wani highlighted the aims and scope of EDUSAT and said that this system is highly beneficial for students to provide support to education through low cost ground segment. He urged the teacher fraternity to visit rural as well as urban areas to provide education through satellite to students of various schools of the district. He said that education through satellite would provide technical assistance and guidance and support in conceptualizing and designing of the network. Mr. Nitin Bhavsar from Development, Educational Communication Unit and Indian Space Research Organisation apprised about the benefits of EDUSAT and said that education through satellite has identified ‘Health Communication Support Network’ as an important activity Principal of the College Dr. Veena Gupta welcomed the trainees, participants and threw light on Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in providing education through satellite in far-flung areas of the country. She said that ISRO’s initiatives have spread to many states in the country and all activities related to satellite based development communication, education, training and health care are grouped into a Gramsat Programme. Among those present on the occasion, HOD Food Science and Technology Prof. Hemla Aggarwal and other senior lecturers of the college. |
