| Multi crore computer education scam: SCA directs holding of regular enquiry | | | Jammu, September 14 : State Accountability Commission on Thursday directed holding of a regular inquiry in the multi crore Computer Education scam. After hearing Advocate DK Raina appearing for complainant Ashok Gupta and Advocate Gagan Basotra appearing for education department, the SAC headed by its acting chairperson Justice(Retd) GL Raina and member Muzaffar Jan directed the holding of a regular inquiry in to the multi crore computer education scam primarily on two points. First, as to why the tenders were not invited from the year 2002 to 2005 and secondly as to why the then director education (Kashmir) GA Pir unauthorisedly deputed 10 teachers to M/S Caset Institute karan Nagar Srinagar without any competence. It may be mentioned that complainant Ashok Gupta , leader Shiv Sena had filed a complaint in the SAC seeking appropriate action against Vijay Bakaya former Principal Secreatry Education department and former Chief Secretary, Harsh Dev Singh, former Education minister,GA Pir Former director school education Kashmir and Farooq Akhtar Financial Advisor Education department.The case pertains to deputation of in-service teachers for undergoing A level computer course. In his complaint, Complainant had alleged that Ministry of Human resource development had sanctioned Rs 18 crore under centrally sponsored scheme but the amount was placed at the disposal of education department for introducing computer literacy in 10 + 2 schools. It may be recalled here that the vigilance organization also probed in to this matter and submitted an action taken report in the court of special judge Anti corruption Jammu in 2005 and had unearthed large scale bunglings/financial irregularities in to the deputation of in-service teachers for undergoing A level computer course under the centrally sponsored scheme. |
