| Clinton's appointment to pave way for resolution of Kashmir issue | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Prominent Norwegian politician and Executive Director Kashmir-Scandinavian Council (KSC) Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan has welcomed the statement of Barack Obama regarding appointing former US President Bill Clinton as Special envoy on Kashmir. In his statement sent to PBI, Khan hoped that the appointment will pave the way for the resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people. He said that it transpires that with the appointment of Bill Clinton, the international community has recognized the sensitivity of Kashmir issue. Ali Shahnawaz Khan said the former President Clinton during his tenure had announced a three-point policy on Kashmir. "President Clinton had recognized that Kashmir is a disputed territory and its resolution should be resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people. President Clinton had also strongly protested over the human rights violations in Kashmir by the troops," he added. |
