| Advisor pulls up ERA for snail pace | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 20: Phunsog says if anyone is found involved in misuse of funds and using substandard material in the projects, action will be taken under rules
Stressing upon the executing agencies involved in execution of various projects undertaken by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in the State to ensure time bound completion of the projects, the Advisor to Governor, Mr. C. Phunsog directed them to remove the impediments and carry on the smooth execution with utter attention. Reviewing the pace of progress of various projects undertaken by ERA in a high level officers' meeting held, here today, he expressed displeasure over slow pace of work of some projects and directed the concerned authorities that utility shifting, forest and environmental clearances should be cleared without further delay so that funds provided by ADB would be utilized well in time under the norms. Chief Executive Officer, ERA, Director General, Finance, ERA, Directors, ERA, Kashmir and Jammu divisions, Project Transport Managers, ERA, Chief Engineers, PHE, R&B, PDD and UEED of both the divisions, Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Chief Conservator Forests, Additional Commissioner, Jammu, Chief Wildlife Warden, Commissioner, JMC and Secretary, Srinagar Development Authority, were also present on the occasion. The Action Taken Report on the decisions taken during previous meetings for smooth execution of projects has been also reviewed in the meeting. The Advisor directed the concerned authorities to implement decisions taken in letter and spirit and strictly adhere to the norms fixed by ADB for execution of the projects. He asked the concerned to double their efforts and mobilize modern machinery besides their expertise for building a concrete infrastructure in the State. Phunsog emphasized upon the engineers to make frequent visits to the construction sites and monitor the progress of each project strictly. He also urged for ensuring the use of standard material in the execution of the projects. He said that if anyone is found involved in misuse of funds and using substandard material in the projects, action will be taken under rules. He directed that immediate action should be taken against those contractors who have shown disinterest and delay in execution of some projects, adding that such contractors should be blacklisted. |
