| 3 SMC officials in Vigilance net | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 20: State Vigilance Organization today caught red-handed Zubeida Hassan, Building Inspector, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Sanitary Supervisor and Mohammad Hussain Shah, Clerk, of Srinagar Municipal Corporation while accepting bribe of Rs.5000 from the complainant for allowing him to construct five shops without permission. Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hussain Bhat of Goripora Bemina lodged a complaint alleging therein that the SMC officials were demanding Rs 10000 for construction of five shops on his ancestral land at Goripora which he had paid on November 17, 2008. These officials, even after receiving the money, started threatening him and demanded Rs.8000 more and finally the deal was settled at Rs.5000, the complainant said. After registering a case, the officials of SVO laid a successful trap at “Hotel Disdain Bemina” during which the accused officials were caught red handed while accepting Rs.5000 as bribe money from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from one of the accused in presence of independent witnesses. His hand wash tested positive. The accused were arrested for further investigation. |
