| JKTUC leader joins JSM (P) | | Swarn to contest from Jammu East | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 20: Welcoming the entry of Swarn Sharma, former working president Jammu and Kashmir Trade Union Congress along with her large number of supporters in to its fold today, JSM (P) president Virender Gupta said that her vibrant personality and zeal to serve the people of Jammu region shall not only strengthen the organization but also encourage participation of women from all spheres, including working class, in the party. She also has a good following amongst the women and will help in strengthening JSM (P) amongst the working class, he added.
Addressing media persons here today, Gupta said Swarn Sharma is a well-known and seasoned personality who has been working at the grass root level with masses for more than twenty-five years.
Immediately after joining the party, Gupta appointed her as the President, Women’s Wing, and also declared her as the party candidate from Jammu East Constituency.
Swaran Sharma, who was also present at the press conference, said that she is joining JSM (P) as it is the only Jammu based regional party that has been fighting for the rights of the people of Jammu region. She also said that the role of the Congress, NC & PDP during the 62 days long agitation by the masses of Jammu has shown that these parties were less bothered about the interests and aspirations of Jammu people. Congress has always observed a policy of appeasement to the Kashmir valley ignoring Jammu and in this connection referred to the implementation of Wazir Commission report where under Congress gave four Districts to Kashmir valley registering an increase of 300 percent against similar number of Districts to Jammu region which just comes to 33 per cent thus grossly undermining the Wazir commission report itself. |
