JAMMU, Nov 21: A State level poetic festival was organized here at Abhinav Theatre Complex today in which 40 reputed poets representing seven languages took part. The event was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy Art, Culture and Languages in connection with Communal Harmony Week being celebrated in the State from November 19-25. The festival was presided over by prominent Urdu Poet S. Prithpal Singh who is also the Commissioner Secretary of ARI and Trainings while Poet Mohan Lal Aash and Zaffar Iqbal Khan Manhas, Secretary Academy, were also in the presidium.
Speaking on the occasion Manhas said that the main objective of this poetry festival was to highlight the diversity of the state and vividness of our cultural ethos which is surviving in the State from times immemorial. He said the Academy is making all out efforts for promotion and propagation of all the regional languages including its art, culture and literature.
In his presidential address Betab described "poetry" as voice of divine. He underlined the need of preserving the glowing heritage and centuries old traditions. He appreciated the Academy for organizing of such meaningful programmes and said that such type of multi lingual sittings can bridge the gaps between various ideologies of State.

Narinder Singh, S. Raj Pal Singh Mastana, S.Bhupinder Singh Bhargawa, S.Baljit Raina, Surinder Neer, Ghulam Rasool Asghar , Ch. Sabar Hussain Nadeem , Ch Hussan Parwaz, Jahanger Asgahar, Dr.Farooq Anwar Mirza, S.Sawami Anter Neero, Parvez Malik, MK Santooshi , Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Sudhir Mahajan , Kapil Anirudh and Manoj Sharma.. |
