| Lecture series begins at JU DDE | | Interactive sessions to promote quality: Gupta | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 21: In order to enhance quality measures and provide better support services to distance learners, the Directorate has started a lecture series wherein experts in the field are invited. As per a handout, the first lecture in the series was delivered by Dr Alka Bakshi, reader in English on the function of distance education system in Canada and India: An overview. Dr Alka Bakshi said that Distance Education in Canada is based on technology, where the admission process, dispatch of study material and deliverance of lectures is carried out online. She referred some universities of Canada which have excellent market value courses like administrative skills, Finance and Accounting, Business Economics, Family Law, etc. One of the reasons for the efficient running of the courses is limited in take capacity for each course and credit transfer. Prof. Rajive Gupta, Director, DDE, remarked that these interactive sessions would promote the quality and effectiveness of the functioning of the distance mode of education. He further said that experts of national repute in distance education would be invited for interaction and development of audio/visual and online study material. The lecture was attended by the faculty of DDE. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Shivani Suri, the release added. |
