| Gupta ridicules Congress claim of forming government | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 21: BJP has the potential to emerge as number one party in Jammu and Kashmir, asserted former union minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta. He ridiculed the Congress claim of regaining power on their own. He predicted that the Congress would be relegated to third or even fourth place in the 2008 elections but for their wrongs committed during the past six years which had created an all round mess and anarchy resulting in spate of agitations and discontent. Addressing a youth rally of the BJP activists at Shakti Nagar of Jammu West Assembly Constituency today, Prof. Gupta pointed out that the leaders of the party are boasting to power in Jammu-Kashmir who have not been able to finalize the list of their candidates at most of the places as yet. He observed that Congress is a sinking ship having no policy on national issues, especially on Jammu Kashmir, where stakes of the country are high as thousands of Jawans and Officers have sacrificed their lives and massive spending have been made to defend this state as part of the country. The BJP leader predicted that almost all the former Congress ministers, especially those of Jammu, would be defeated at the hustings but for their dubious performance. They played second fiddle to the Kashmir centric and pro-militant leaders so much so they fumbled and bungled not only on the issues of Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies and many other such like important matters but also Swami Amarnath Shrine Board had forced the nationalist Jammu to go for an agitation wherein about dozen patriots have had to sacrifice their lives and the people had to rise in virtual revolt by resorting to unprecedented Bandh and faced bullets, lathies, tear-gass and other sufferings for over two months, he remarked. |
