| JU students want early appointment of new VC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 21: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in the appointment of new incumbent for University of Jammu, Progressive Students Association (PSA) in its general body meeting, held at campus here this afternoon, has flayed the organizations stressing for appointing a local as VC. It said that such organizations have been forcibly affecting the routine class work which is only affecting the studies of students who have suffered a lot on account of land row agitation. Addressing the meeting, president of the association Rahul said, “Whether the new VC belongs to region or not is out of question but he/she must be able to comprehend the problems of students and solve these efficiently.” Rahul said that student organizations should concentrate on day today’s problems being faced by students instead of meddling with the affairs of administration. He drew the attention of authorities concerned towards delay in issuance of academic calendar, lethargic examination system, regularization of ad hoc and contractual employees, insufficient hostel infrastructure and the ongoing back door appointments. The association has urged Governor, NN Vohra to appoint new VC on merit and academic basis with immediate effect. Those who attended the meeting included, Rosy Sharma, Aslam, Abrar Khan, Rohit, Rajinder, Aijaz, Munish, Vikram, Ashok, Huma and Siddiqui. |
