| Govt. committed to electrify all state villages by 2010: Jora | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14 – Saying that government is determined to electrify all the un-electrified villages and hamlets of the state by the end of 2010 end and upgrade the existing infrastructure, the Minister of power Mr Rigzin Jora said that various steps have been taken in this behalf by the government with the liberal financial assistance provided by centre government. This was stated by the Minister while reviewing power scenario of Chadoora and Wachi constituencies here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Rural Development Department Mr Javed Mustafa Mir who is also MLA from Chadoora Assembly Constituency. The Minister called upon the engineers to speed up execution on various projects and render service to public with devotion and honesty. The Minister said that Rs 20 crore are allocated yearly under APDRP scheme exclusively for improvement, maintenance and repairs of damaged transformers, polls and conductors. Out of which, Rs 50 lakh are kept at the disposal of Deputy Commissioners to meet out the emergency repairs of power system in their jurisdiction. He strictly instructed the concerned authorities that funds allotted for the particular head should not be diverted to other heads. The Minister directed the Chief Engineer to ensure the punctuality of field staff in their respective areas and make checks of damaged transformers, worn-out polls and other allied appliances so that these may be replaced by new ones well in time. He also exhorted upon the field staff of the department to provide better services to the consumers and directed them to ensure collection of power tariff in full from the consumers. Responding to the demands projected by the Minister of State for Rural Development including Grid Station in Nowbugh, replacement of 6.6 KV to 11 KV and construction of receiving station at Khanda Chadoora, Mr Jora directed the concerned authorities to come up with project report with cost and other details. Later, a deputation led by Legislator Mr Mohammad Khalil Naik also called on the Minister and apprised him about the problems relating to power in his constituency. Mr Jora gave patient hearing and said that 59 sub-stations would be constructed in the Wachi constituency. 28 Sub-stations are under execution, out of which 7 sub-stations have been completed besides Reshipora and Ladoora receiving station have been augmented, 11 KV feeder have been improved in the area, he added. Among others Chief Engineer M&RE Mr Nissar Hussain, Chief Engineer System Operation, Mr Abdul Rashid Guru and Superintending Engineers of South Circle and Budgam besides other senior officers attended the meeting. |
