| RKSP to regularize services of SPO’s | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 21: Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party J&K State Sr. Vice President and party candidate for J&K assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar, Jammu constituency has assured the family members of Special Police Officers (SPOs), killed while fighting against the terrorists that he would fight for getting the families of deceased SPOs compensation at par with regular police cops killed in fighting militancy. As per a release, addressing about a hundred family members of late and serving SPOs, who had called on him today Ding said that if elected as MLA, he would raise the issue in the assembly for regularizing the services of SPOs, making them regular cops, with salaries and allowances equal to those paid to the police cops, with the provision for their promotion. He rued that at present a paltry sum of Rs 3000 per month is being paid to the SPOs, who work for 24 hours and risk their lives while rendering their duty particularly in the militancy infested areas or on duty with the VIPs and other political leaders, who are on the hit list of militants. He said that a fairly good number of SPOs are killed in the militancy related violence, but no family pension is granted to their dependents. He and his party will fight for fair deal to the SPOs, the release added. |
