| Crusade against corruption is on- Babu Singh | | Appeals militants to reciprocate initiative of ceasefire | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14 –Saying that crusade against corruption is on and rewarding the honest and dedicated officials is on the top of the agenda under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports Mr Babu Singh has appealed the people to extend their fullest support to the government for making Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous state. Mr Singh was addressing a public meeting at Barwah Budgam today. He said that the people of the state who are yarning for peace after having suffered a lot during the turmoil in the state have reposed their faith in democracy and are optimistic about the restoration of lasting peace. He said that a road map needs to be prepared acknowledging the aspirations of the people of the state and fostering friendly relations between India and Pakistan while negotiating on the bilateral issues. He said that the dialogue process should be carried forward and not made a hostage of isolated incidents of violence. He said that the initiatives taken by both the countries for building confidence measures have proved successful as evident from opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch Rawlakote road adding that opening of trade routes between the two countries would not only boost the economy of Jammu and Kashmir but will have a positive impact on the economies of both the countries. The Minister said that bilateral cease-fire in the state during the period of Ramdan should be continued and militants should reciprocate such an offer. He said the time has come to shun the violence and let the peace prevail over the insurgency adding that the future of our youth is secure only in a peaceful environment. He said that the centre government has been very sincere in providing liberal funding to the state to bring back its economy on the rails and rebuild the damaged infrastructure, besides launching a network of developmental activities in every nook and corner of the state. He said that under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme the state has been allocated huge funds for taking up of works under health, education, rural development and R&B sector. Appealing the people to be a part of the developmental activities, Mr Singh said that without the participation of people making developmental programmes successful is impossible adding that this would also help in providing better and accountable administration to them |
