| Choices: Self rule v/s autonomy v/s development | | |
Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 21
Choicest of invectives they hurled against each other notwithstanding, between Ghulam Nabi Azad’s development program, Dr Farooq Abdullah’s autonomy and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s self-rule, people of four constituencies of Rajouri district have to make a choice as now it is over to them. Three former Chief Ministers today concluded their whirlwind tour of the district and their speeches were marked with bundles of loathes against each other’s person, party and policies. Farooq Abdullah said the “unholy alliance” of Peoples Democratic Party and Congress has ruined politics and economy of Jammu and Kashmir and if given a chance National Conference will put life back on rails. He alleged that corruption, unemployment and financial mismanagements touched their unseen heights in past five years. Farooq addressed public meetings in Kalakote. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who addressed a largely attended public meeting in Koteranka, comparatively spared Farooq and targeted Azad. He said, “my visionary policies and programmes initiated since 2002 were not only stalled but also sabotaged by Azad”. He asked people to give PDP absolute mandate for peace progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. Ghulam Nabi Azad, who addressed public meetings in parts of Darhal and Nowshera constituencies, repeated his trademark statements: “my agenda is only development of Jammu and Kashmir”. Sparing National Conference, he targeted Peoples Democratic Party for what he said befooling people on hollow slogans.
