| My only agenda is development | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 21 Azad To set the discrimination complaints at rest, if voted to power, the Congress will constitute autonomous regional councils for Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, said former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Addressing public meetings at Peeri and Sunderbani, Azad pointed out: “During the past couple of years the focus of the Congress led government was to create the infrastructure across the state and a balanced development of all the three provinces of the state so that no region could complain that it has been neglected”. He promised that if voted to power again the separate regional councils for Jammu and Srinagar would be set up and there will be devolution and decentralization of power up to district, block and panchayat level. He said that during his truncated tenure the construction of 65 roads were taken up in Rajouri district and the construction of 25 new roads in Darhal –Budhal constituency alone was taken up. He said that the Akhnoor Bridge on river Chenab was constructed within a record time of only 18 months to join the people of Rajouri and Poonch districts with Jammu which speaks the volumes of the work culture he had introduced in the state. Lauding his achievements he said that the new district hospital at Rajouri is completed and Tourist Authority at the cost of Rs.20 crore has been established. He claimed that it was under the Congress regime that the construction of Mughal road from Poonch to Kashmir was taken up and during the shortest span of two and half years the 84 Km of it had been completed and the remaining 18 Km will be completed by next year. He added that it was only during the Congress regime that the Poonch-Rawalakot road was thrown open for passenger traffic thus fulfilling the long cherished demand of the people of Rajouri and Poonch. He said that more speedy development is possible in the state in future only if Congress returns to power both at the centre as well as in J&K with the help of the great full people of the state. He emphatically said that as mentioned in the manifesto the employment to the unemployed youth would be his priority and would seek a special quota for the educated unemployed youth of J&K from the Central government and adopt a comprehensive employment package for the unemployed youth and seek the grant of stipend to them
