CoA interacts with paddlers, wishes well on departure eve

KOLKATA, Feb 26: After having cleared Team India and other paddlers for the WTT Contender in Oman beginning February 27,the Committee of Administrators (CoA) hit it off well during a Zoom meeting with the players bound for Muscat, Table TennisFederation of India said on Saturday. Chairperson and retired justice Gita Mittal, in the company of other members Chetan Mittal and S.D. Mudgil interacted with the athletes.During the 30-minute meeting, joined by Chief National Coach Manjit Singh Dua, the chairperson sought to know the players' plans for theimpending Commonwealth and Asian Games, besides asking for their suggestions.She had a pep talk with the players and asked them to feel free to express themselves. "We are here to help you in whatever way possible. We don't want you hindered in any way and concentrate on the job at hand-playing well to win medals for the country," said the chairperson..The players who attended the meeting were: Anthony Amalraj, G. Sathiyan, Sanil Shetty, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Manika Batra, Sutirtha Mukherjee, Reeth Rishya, Diya Chitale, Akula Sreeja and Ayhika Mukherjee, besides the two coaches, Arup Basak and Subhajit Saha.During the interaction, the chairperson wanted to know from the players their kitting, especially equipment, including the ply and rubbers, was inadequate supply.The players nodded in agreement.Mudgil and Chetan Mittal also briefly spoke with the players and asked them to put their best foot forward in achieving their dreams. "As an athlete, I know the struggles players make to reach a certain level. But what is important is to maintain the level after reaching there," advised Mudgil.
In the end, the chairperson and other members wished the team members well. The players thanked the CoA for an invigorating session.
Earlier, Manjit Dua introduced the players to CoA, extolling their performance and how hard they have come up the ladder to bring laurels to the country.The CoA has also lined up a meeting with the TTFI panel of coaches this Sunday to have a face-to-face interaction to know the pulse of their capabilities.
