ACB produced chargesheet against then Patwari Chatroo in trap case

JAMMU, Feb 26: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) produced a chargesheet against the then Patwari Halqa Chatroo in a trap case before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Doda.
ACB produced the chargesheet in case FIR No. 42/2017 U/S 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) & 4-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC registered against the then Patwari Halqa Chatroo, Toufeeq Ahmed, S/o Bashir Ahmed, R/o Village Palmar Tehsil & District Kishtwar in P/S VOJ (Now ACB).
The instant case was registered on the basis of a complaint alleging therein that the complainant had given one shop on rent. The tenant had given him one tree in lieu of 06 month rent which comes to Rs. 1800. Complainant further stated that when he cut the tree, the team of revenue officials comprising of Ghulam Qadir Girdawar, Toufeeq Ahmed Patwari and Chowkidar Ghulam came on the spot and after measurement seized the said fallen tree.
On this the complainant approached the Sarpanch Roshan Lal and requested for assistance, who after talking to Tehsildar Chatroo stated that the said Tehsildar is demanding Rs.50000 for the said purpose and finally the matter was settled for Rs.10000. The complainant agreed to pay Rs. 5000 through Patwari Toufeeq Ahmed to the Tehsildar and the remaining amount of Rs.5000 was agreed to be paid later. Patwari Toufeeq Ahmed was caught red handed by ACB while accepting the bribe of Rs. 5000.
After completion of the investigation, the case was processed for obtaining Govt. sanction from the competent authority and after obtaining Govt. sanction, the case was chargesheet in the competent court for judicial determination. The next date of hearing has been fixed for March 23, 2022.
