| Kishtwar poll staff trained on EVMs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 22: Around 1,100 employees were given training in operating EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) by master trainers during a two-day programme, organized at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar. The Returning Officers of Kishtwar and Indarwal constituencies were also present on the occasion. The master trainers gave a practical demonstration about the operating systems of the electronic voting machines and replied to the related queries of the poll staff about the functioning/handling of the EVMs. Kishtwar district is going to polls on December 17 in the sixth phase of J&K Assembly Elections. Around 187 polling stations are being set up for 1,44,455 voters, which include 74,314 male and 70,141 female voters. The total voters also include 737 service voters. Meanwhile, District Election Officer (DEO), Kishtwar, Mr. Sudarshan Sharma, today called upon all the Government functionaries engaged in the election process to ensure complete adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and other guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India so that free, fair and transparent elections are held. |
