| Natrang stages 'Safar Ke Saathi' at its studio Theatre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 23: Hindi comedy 'Safar Ke Saathi' enthralled audience at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu on Sunday. Written by Kanaad Rishi Bhatnagar, the play was directed by Balwant Thakur. This hilarious play is a big satire on the unwanted guests particularly in metros where people hardly have space and resources to live comfortably. The play begins with the entry of Sharma (Rohit Verma) along with family to Verma's (Gaurav Jamwal) house. Incidentally, Verma had met Sharma at Mathura Railway Station and had exchanged business cards. As a formality Verma had said that if he happens to be in Delhi he may drop-in at his place. Taking full advantage of that offer Sharma along with his family and other relations land at Verma's place in Delhi with the intention to stay for over a month and have extensive tour of the city. The hosts loose their patience in order to meet the demands of unwanted guests. They make many attempts to pull them out but nothing materializes. Finally Mrs. Verma (Tajasvi Sharma) plays a trick. She advises the guests to deposit their cash with her as due to the growing incidents of thefts in Delhi they may not loose their hard earned money. This way the whole cash comes in their custody and when they ask for the money, Verma hands over a balance sheet showing the money as consumed on their hospitality. Here the Sharma family cry for their money but in vein, by this time they last their money and their plan of free holiday in Delhi runs in troubled waters. The play ends with a lesson that never be a unwanted guest and a burden on others. Being co-passengers of this life journey we need to bear our individual expenses. The artists who played the lead roles included Gaurav Jamwal, Rohit Verma, Hemant Bholla, Rahul Singh, Vansheen and Tajasvi Sharma. The lights were designed and executed by Mohit Sharma, while the show was coordinated by Deepak Virdi and Mohammed Yaseen. |
