EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 23: National Democratic Party (NDP) has criticized the main political parties in J&K like Congress, BJP, NC and PDP for ignoring women and youth of the state in the current elections and indulging in hollow sloganeering. Addressing media persons here today, Ravi Bakshi, president, NDP said though women constitute almost 50% of the voters in any constituency but it was unfortunate that these political parties, who have been harping on providing at least 33% reservation to the women, have failed to provide tickets to the women and even ignored the youth of the state. Referring to the two months old agitation, Bakshi said all these parties were exposed for exploiting religious sentiments of the people. They tried to exploit the people on vote bank and even created wedge between the people of two regions and the communities, he added. He also highlighted the plight of transporters, traders, industrialists, fruit growers and others who faced huge losses during the agitation and also expressed concern over injustice to ex-servicemen (Gallantry Awardees) in the J&K. He lambasted government for ignoring them. The NDP leader said the party will strive hard for providing justice to all unattended groups of society and development of poor, down trodden, women empowerment, welfare of youth and deprived members of the society. BR Vaid, Manuj Sharma, R K Khajuria, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Rajeev Gupta, Anand Gopal Mishra, Sohan Singh and Vinod Jara were also present at the press conference. |
