| Jats demand OBC status | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 23: Demanding OBC status to Jats of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jat Kalyan Sabha (JKS) has decided to vote and support only those political parties who would concede this genuine and long demand of the community. Addressing media persons here today, Ch Dewan Singh, working President said that Jats will vote and support only that party who will consider their demand of OBC status. He also warned of dire consequences for the criminal silence being adopted by political leaders/parties on the most genuine issue. He said that OBC status stands granted to Jats in the states like Rajasthan, Delhi, UP, MP, HP, Uttrakhand and Gujarat. The community, who are mostly tillers, lag far behind all other communities in every aspect, has been denied their basic rights in Jammu and Kashmir. He asked the leaders of all political parties to come openly to support their cause otherwise face the music of the community in the on going election. Ch. Dewan Singh also advised the Jat community to vote and support only those leaders who will speak for the cause of the community and ensure grant of O.B.C. Status otherwise discard those leaders and parties. Chanan Singh Randhawa, Ch Sham, Ch. Girdhari, Capt. Bachan, Ch. Pritam and Ch. Bhupinder Bajwa were also present at the press conference. |
