| Artists of Jammu region mesmerize audience | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 23: The artists of Jammu region today enthralled the audience with their mind-blowing performance during the multi-lingual musical concert held here at Abhinav Theatre Complex. The programme was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language in connection with the celebrations of communal harmony week. Eminent cultural figure of the State, G.R Hasrat was chief guest on the occasion while a number of cultural personalities were also present on the occasion. Welcoming the guests, Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary Academy said that the today’s programme was organized with the sole motto to showcase the vibrant colours of our cultural heritage. She said the Academy has designed a number of progammes to be held in various parts of the State in connection with the celebrations of the week and added that Academy is committed for all-round development of regional music and other performing Arts of the State. She said that we are planning to record the regional and folk music of Jammu so that the tunes of these centuries’ old songs could be preserved for coming generations. In his address Hasrat said that Academy has done a tremendous work in the field of music and performing arts and suggested that Academy should come forward and explore the possibility of establishment of community cultural clubs in various districts and Regional FM Radio Stations at Jammu and Kashmir. He also suggested for setting up a recording studio for regional music. He, however, appreciated the Academy for today's programme and said that this type of efforts will make the people more conscious about brotherhood and communal togetherness. The programme opened with the Dogri Ghazal of Ved Pal Deep "Tunda Wadha Ha Key Sada Ha Qaoor : Phirdey Reh Ass Zindgi Phar Lour Lour", followed by a song of Vinder Kesar presented by Dogri Singer Dharmesh Nargotra .Renowned Kashmiri Singer Depali Watal recited the Poetry of eminent Sofi Poet of Kashmir Wahab Khar and Shams Faqeer. Well known Gojri artist Bashir Mastana presented Gojri folk-song "Koku" and "Chakho Kat Kutryee" While in Pahari Master Kartar Chand prominent folk singer presented "Mahiya" and "Saif Malook ". |
