JAMMU, Nov 23: In collaboration with Bajrangi Akhara Management, Sports Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today organized a dangal at Bajrangi Akhara, Shalamar, here today.
In all, 16 bouts were decided in the day-long dangal which was witnessed by a healthy gathering of sports lovers and supporters of the competing wrestlers.
To encourage the wrestlers and game, contesting BJP candidate from Jammu East Assembly constituency and president of the party, Ashok Khajuria, who was chief guest on the occasion, felicitated the competitors.
He promised that efforts would be made to revive the indigenous game of wrestling in the existing city akharas by improving facilities.
Dangal was organized under the supervision of BJP Sports Cell incharge, Pardeep Sharma.
Prominent among those witnessed the dangal included president J&K Wrestling Association, Dushyant Sharma, Krishan Pahalwan, Ramesh Pahalwan, Om Parkash and Vijay Pahalwan. |
